Cuba
The Aconcha Series celebrates Cuba’s rich rum heritage through a collection of rare, exceptional single cask bottlings.
Each release is a window into a specific moment in Cuban history, capturing the island’s cultural and social essence while preserving the unique character of spirits aged in Cuba’s tropical climate for decades. From the golden era of pre-revolutionary rum to the hidden treasures of earlier distilleries, the series offers a remarkable exploration of time, taste, and tradition.

After Hoy como Ayer, which paid tribute to the pivotal years of the Cuban pre-revolution, the series continues with Cabeza Llena – Cuba 1948.
Distilled prior to 1955, this rare bottling evokes a period of contrasts: political instability coexisted with cultural vibrancy, as writers, artists, Hollywood stars, gangsters, and the local elite mingled in Havana’s most celebrated venues. Though the original distillery is lost to history, radiocarbon analysis confirms its age, while decades of tropical ageing have preserved a subtle and complex flavor profile reminiscent of sweet wine rancio.
Like Hoy como Ayer, Cabeza Llena embodies a piece of Cuban history, reviving the golden age of rum through the lens of Aconcha’s artistic vision and offering a rare experience for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Aconcha, the artist behind the series, was born in Havana in 1946 into a family of craftspeople and artists.
Initiated at a young age into Santería, the Afro- Caribbean religion of the Orishas by her uncle, she has long drawn inspiration from this spiritual world.
Her career spans fashion design, music, and visual arts across Paris, Brussels, and later the Verdon mountains, but her work has remained deeply connected to Cuban culture and heritage.
Painting, drawing, and sculpture became her favored techniques during an introspective phase, with the Orishas frequently serving as her central subjects. Her self-portraits and artworks now adorn each bottling in the Aconcha Series, creating a unique dialogue between art and spirit.
