As the range’s main aim is to promote exceptional French spirits, Version Française features a selection of craft Armagnacs since 2021.

Armagnac’s wine-growing area spans just 12,000 hectares, versus more than 80,000 for Cognac.

This unique characteristic means Armagnac producers have always had a certain level of independence. And, not restricted by the need to produce the same organoleptic profiles year after year, they are instead able to focus on the expression of different terroirs and vintages. Armagnac also has a few things in common with whisky, being generally drier than cognac and frequently bottled at high strengths.

There are more then 600 small Armagnac producers in France. Today, however, the region’s main brands are generally better known than the distillers themselves. Version Française has therefore decided to honour the latter.
